RULES FOR CROSSING THE ROAD
AT A SIGNAL-CONTROLLED PEDESTRIAN CROSSING

MEMO

  1. Stop at the pedestrian crossing at the edge of the sidewalk, without stepping onto the curb.

  2. Wait for the green signal of the traffic light or the go-ahead signal from the traffic controller.

  3. Look to the left and make sure that all vehicles have stopped and are yielding to pedestrians.

  4. Cross the road while watching for vehicles coming from the left.

  5. Keep watching the traffic on the left. Walk quickly but do not run.

  6. Upon reaching the middle of the roadway, make sure that vehicles coming from the right have stopped.

  7. If the yellow traffic light turns on or the traffic controller raises their right hand as you approach the middle of the roadway — stop. While standing in the middle, do not step forward or backward! Watch for vehicles passing on both the left and the right.

  8. Finish crossing only after making sure that the green signal is on again or the traffic controller has given the go-ahead, and vehicles from the right have stopped.

  9. If the yellow light turns on or the controller raises their right hand after you’ve already passed the middle of the road, complete the crossing while carefully observing vehicles coming from the right.

"In places where traffic is regulated, pedestrians must follow the signals of the traffic controller or the pedestrian traffic light, and if it is absent — the vehicle traffic light."
