Job Description of the School Reconciliation Service Curator

I. General Provisions
1.1. The curator of the School Reconciliation Service (SRS) is appointed by the order of the director of the educational institution from the teaching staff.
1.2. The curator's task is to organize the work of the reconciliation service and ensure that the service receives information about conflicts and criminal situations.
1.3. The curator is appointed from among individuals who:

  • are interested in the development of restorative practices in the educational institution and share their values;

  • are ready to master the role of mediator, conduct mediations, and other restorative programs;

  • have access to information about conflict situations;

  • enjoy authority among teachers and students;

  • are able to defend their opinions before the administration;

  • are capable of organizing a group of student mediators.
    1.4. The curator of the SRS works closely with the teaching staff of the educational institution, primarily with the psychologist of the institution, under the supervision of the deputy director for educational work.
    1.5. The curator of the SRS must undergo training in one of the additional professional education programs in the field of restorative technologies.

II. Duties
2.1. The curator of the SRS organizes a campaign to recruit mediators from among the minor students to work in the SRS and ensures their further equal participation in all educational, organizational-methodical, practical, analytical, and other activities.
2.2. The curator of the SRS provides training for student mediators.
2.3. The curator of the SRS, together with the administration of the educational institution, organizes the participation of student mediators in thematic inter-school seminars and conferences, helps mediators present their work experience and become familiar with the experience of mediators from other SRSs.

2.4. The curator of the SRS documents the process and results of resolving conflict situations received by the SRS from any source, and formalizes the final results. The final results of the SRS's work are presented to the institution's management, the coordination body, and, upon request, to other interested bodies and structures.
2.5. The curator of the service ensures the monitoring of implemented programs and conducts supervisions with mediators to ensure their activities align with the principles of restorative mediation.

III. Rights
The curator of the SRS has the right to:
3.1. Familiarize themselves with draft decisions of the educational institution’s management that relate to their activities.
3.2. Make proposals to improve the work of the educational institution in matters related to the duties outlined in this instruction.
3.3. Request personally or through the direct supervisor any information and documents necessary to perform their job duties.
3.4. Involve children and adolescents in the development of universal human values and the formation of tolerance.

IV. Responsibility
4.1. The curator is responsible for maintaining documentation and writing reports.
4.2. The curator is responsible for the overall management of the service, planning its development and promotion, organizing the order and control of program implementation, and conducting monitoring and analysis of program implementation in the institution.

V. Interaction
5.1. Establishes interaction with interested institutions and agencies.
